Route 1.

Driving tour from the campsite to the château de Biron and the village bastide Montpazier and back to the campsite le rocher de la Granelle Le Bugue Perigord noir

This walking tour is certainly very interesting.
It will guide you to some places where no usual touristic guide would show you.
Nearly every body glances to Sarlat. But it’s surely so nice south-western side.
What about discovering the Château de Biron and a little visit to the village country house of the franco-english war, known as 100 years war ? (Montpazier).

Most of it, don’t forget Belves. Nice to stroll there and why not to enjoy there a good meal at the corner’s hotel.

Right hand when you leave the campsite, and still on your right to Le Buisson.
Keep on D25 Cadouin and Beaumont direction.
In Beaumont, follow D676 to Villeréal.
If you were in this campsite 5 years ago, you knew Lionel and Dalila, previous owners of the camping le rocher de la Granelle.
Now, they are bakers in this village, and you can buy your bread at their shop.
When you are in the middle of the village, follow way left to Montpazier (D104). After some kilometers, way out on your rignt to Biron and le Château de Biron.

You should absolutely visit this castle. It’s so interesting !
Restoration works do not obstruct the public. Many rooms and parts are in restoration: kitchen, pharmacy consulting room of the doctor, the part of the tanner, the room of weapons without forgetting …………… “the SM room ”.

If there are engineers or builders among you, you will be surely be interested in seing how work proceeds.
Strike the arches of the gate which carry out you by a staircase to the stage. Or type on the bars of the prison/room of torture. You will make discoveries there.

From Château Biron you take again D104/d2 which leads you to Monpazier.
There, park the car external side. This country house deserves to walk there. You can do it with a guide. Pay especially attention to the small narrow streets and the firebreaks sometimes still quite visible (often hidden behind partitions of several tens of centimetres).
The country house is so called because of the 100 years war. Southern side there are a beautiful sight and a nice place for a picnic

Driving along D53 you are on the “green road” Belvès direction.
A splendid city. Here it’s amazing to walk and look at the frontages. An ideal place to have a glass or to eat something at the hotel.
pleasant environment, and, most of it : reasonable price !

From Belvès a lot of roads lead you to Urval. (via D710 and D25 or Monplaisant and D52).
Stop in this very small village and take time to walk there a little.
It’s cut out of any modernism once a year (electricity, etc).
You spend your week-end there in regional costumes like formerly.
Oil lamps light the streets just a few, and at central place one make there bread.

Back to the campsite le rocher de la granelle le bugue via D25 and le Buisson.
